Guadalupe Mountains National Park
Guadalupe Mountains NP is in Texas, but it is of the same mountain range as Carlsbad NP. The northeast most
attraction of Guadalupe is only 35miles from Whites City which is on hwy 62/180, just outside of Carlsbad.
Guadalupe Mountains has the highest peak of Texas. It is a hikers' park. Need to camp and hike several day to
really enjoy it. We had less than a day but what we saw was unforgettable.
McKittrick canyon trail is a ~10 mile trial. Its north branch, Premian Reef Geology Trail is the exposed ancient reef
formed in an uplift of mountain-building and now many sediment were exposed with many interesting fossils. The
nature trail was amazing.
Frijole Ranch History Museum is the buildings a 19th century homestead complete with schoolhouse and orchards.
The natural springs made it possible.
Park Headquarter had a great display and a nice desert natural trial. El Capitan is a historic land mark for the
settlers.
