Lotus at Carnegie Center, Princeton, NJ
|
Carnegie Center is an office complex with beautiful setting. The four main three story office buildings share a
common focal water garden, for many years it has been a lotus pond. It is not only the employees relaxation spot,
but also became many local residents' favorite photographic and enjoyment focus, especially to the lotus lovers,
among them many are Chinese Americans.
I was introduced to this pond of lotus in the beginning of the millennium. Each year I would come a few times to
see the lotus and take some photographs. Around 2006 through 2008 all lotus in the pond were removed. Time and
again I visited and were disappointed. Many residents resorted to dig ponds in their yards and planted lotus to
sooth the lose of the favorite plant. I have one also: http://mayleesart.com/B625LotusPond.html
Good news came in 2009 spring: there were pots of lotus planted in the pond, although blooms were not dense.
But it is worth celebrating. Not only they came back, but also came back in different varieties and colors.
The most recent visit was August 31, 2011, white, dark pink and pink varieties are all blooming. What a happy
sight.
My lotus folder has been accumulated with several years of work, from film to digital, uploaded as follows for
your enjoyment.
