Chinese Scholar Garden Revisited
With the excitement of the bloom of Prunus mume, the Chinese Scholar Garden with its surrounding Mei Hua became the site of visit among score
of Forty Plus members and friends, defying the thretened thunderstorm.

Not only we saw lots of blooming Mei Hua, but the magnolia, both white and purple/pink, Mahonia, the fruit of Nandida are in their glorious displays.
The bees are busy, where did they come from? Seems the lion of March is still luring.

Outside of the garden, the greenhouse of Staten Island Botanical Garden showcased a huge gardenia with hundreds of white blossoms emitting
alluring fragrance. Out side the greenhouse, a bright red quince, bursting with flowers, I feel sorry that it did not get the Woos and Ahsfeom this
group of visitors, just because it was not prominent in the classic Chinese literature.  Two white P. mume over twenty feet tall were proudly
displaying at the north side of the greenhouse. Magnificent indeed.
Welcoming to all visitors to the Staten Island Botanical Garden is this pink leaveless Azalea.
Along the path to the Scholar Garden, the lavender Azalea greets the visitor so warmly.

At the front entrance, our guide is patiently waiting for us to finish taking pictures. Mei Hua's shadow on the wall is as interesting as the flower itself.
This group of purple bamboos is in the
slightly shaded area, so it is not
overgrown, showing of the stone
shoots.
Pair of ducks flew in to check us out.

The big mei by the pond was almost done. Others are in prime.

This last picture reminds me of feeling of sad to part with the corsage of fragrant Michelia champaca白蘭花, for it has passed its
prime. These corsages were sold by street vendors inexpensively, but for a day it will bring you fragrance. It is still available  in Taipei now a day.
Across from the Scholar Garden, by the greenhouse is a bush of lovely quince.
On the north side of the greenhouse are two >20ft White Mei.
