The Azalea in National Taiwan University
臺大的杜鵑
I had the pleasure of visiting Taiwan in March of 2002. The subtropical island is well advanced in its spring blooms. One of the sights for
spring flower is the Azaleas in the National Taiwan University, my alma mater. It happened to be a festival day; there were tents of vendors
promoting, teas, herbs and the sort. I strolled with my N80 loaded with film through the campus avenue and to the back of the agriculture
and horticulture departments. The following was the scan by my favorite Photo developer,
富洋 near 新生南路和平東路intersection.
Notice the new tall building behind, that is the 2nd Administration building, adjacent to the Agricultural Department.
The frogs sang in this pond all night. They seemed to compete in pitches higher than the previous frog. You should go listen for yourself.
Many very old(>100yr) cycads were proud collection of the campus. But 2002 they
were sick from some insect or disease. Don't know how they are now. Could some one
on campus tell me how they are doing? What they are sick of, please.

New Main Library facing the Palm Ave.

World class University library. Excellent
rare books and manuscript dept. and
collection. Please consider donating
manuscripts here.
To the left (west) of the Main library is:
The same student center.
The college of Engineering with a plaque of Civil Engineering Department.
Lunch vendors, barbers and post office.
Camellia grown outdoors, blooms profusely.
Watch out for falling palm leaves.
Job recruiting schedule.
After all these year, you can expect the new buildings, new departments, but have the students changed? i'd say they are more openly romantic than
before. Have you seen or thought of displaying her name with Azalea flowers like this then?
